Immune Boosting Ginger Kale Smoothie

With cold season in full swing, it's always a good idea to have a natural remedy at your fingertips that can keep the bug at bay.  Turmeric, ginger, and kale are known to have immune boosting properties.  They hare packed with antioxidants, contain anti inflammatory agents and help with congestion, chills and fever.  Even if you are not feeling sick, this healthy smoothie is a great way to begin the day or act as a midday snack.

Ginger Kale Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tbsp almond butter
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 tsp fresh grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 banana
1/2 orange
1/2 cup kale

Directions:

Step 1: Place the almond milk, almond butter, chia seeds, ginger, and turmeric in a blender and puree the mixture until the ingredients are well combined.

Step 2: Add the banana, orange and kale and continue blending until smooth.

Step 3: Serve in a tall glass.

*Note: This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled to feed the whole family.
