Ingredients
- 2 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter and oleo, softened
- 4 eggs
- 2 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon butter flavoring
- 8 teaspoon baking powder
- 5 cup flour
- 2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 ounce cream cheese, softened(optional)
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 2 teaspoon grated orange rind
- 1/4 teaspoon orange flavoring
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large mixing bowl, cream together sugar and softened butter and oleo until light and fluffy.
Step 2
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in sour cream, vanilla, and butter flavoring.
Step 3
In a separate medium bowl, whisk baking powder into the flour. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
Step 4
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a greased baking sheet. Bake for 12-14 minutes.
Step 5
Remove cookies from oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.
Step 6
For the Orange Creme Frosting, combine powdered sugar, softened cream cheese (if using), orange juice, grated orange rind, orange flavoring, and butter in a bowl. Mix until smooth. (Note: If using cream cheese, you may need to increase the powdered sugar by ½ cup. Add more orange juice, a little at a time, if needed to achieve a spreadable consistency.)
Step 7
Frost the cooled cookies with the prepared orange creme frosting.
