Quiche Lorraine

Ingredients

1 pre-made pie shell
1 tablespoon butter cut into small pieces
12 rashers bacon, cooked well
1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss or Gruyere cheese
4 s eggs
2 cups cream
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper

Preparation

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Place pre-made pie shell into quiche dish or use disposable pie pan.

When pie shell is defrosted, sprinkle cheese on bottom of shell and then crush bacon and sprinkle on top of cheese.

Beat eggs slightly and add remaining ingredients into egg and mix slightly again. Pour mixture over cheese and bacon.

Bake for 15 minutes, reduce oven temperature to 300 degrees and add butter pieces and bake for 30 minutes longer or until knife inserted comes out clean.

Quiche Lorraine is a classic, elegant dish. The premade pastry makes it easy to prepare. Variation: You can also add small ham chunks with bacon or add ham instead of bacon.
