Homemade Baklava

Ingredients
1 Pack Phyllo dough
1 Cup Butter
1 cup Sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg and cloves
1 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Preparation

Heat up the oven to 350 F degrees.

Melt the butter.

Layer the phyllo dough in the pan, about three at a time, butter each layer with the melted butter. sprinkle with the nut mix and keep on layering the dough until you are done with the amount. The top layer of dough should be the thickest , about 6-8 sheets deep.

Cut the baklava all the way to the bottom into squares or diamond shapes.

Add the cold sugar syrup to the baklava and let it stand for some time before serving at room temperature.

I add about a fourth of a teaspoon of orange water to my sugar syrup and it gives it a fragrant smell and taste!!!

Ruth, adding flavoring to your sugar syrup is great..i do too add orange blossom water to it and it makes the whole dessert smell and taste so yummy. thanks for sharing your tip.
