Warming Stew For A Cold Winter Night

December 3, 2015

The first snow of the season is finally falling on our Maine farm. It's time to break out the slow cooker and make something hearty and comforting. Stews are perfect for days like this. Let's be honest and say that a stew is just a thickened soup, but there is something about every bite of the meal being covered in what is essentially a delicious gravy that makes this kind of recipe one that is unforgettable.

We have dozens of stews in the Foodista archives, so I tried to find a nice cross section of different flavor profiles. From traditional to cheesy potato filled bread bowls, each of these stews has been taste tested and found to be awesome. Let it snow!
