Radioactive cesium was found in Japanese infant formula made by Meiji Holdings Co.
Traces of cesium-137 and cesium-134 were found in batches of Meiji Step, a variety of their infant milk that was made in March.
As a result of the test findings, the company is recalling 400,000 cans of their Meiji Step, the milk formulated for babies older than 9 months. The cans, packaged in April and distributed in May, have an expiration date of October 2012.
Although no direct link has been proven, it is believed that the source may have been from the hot air used during the drying process.
