First Conference to End Factory Farming

November 7, 2011

The first annual National Conference to End Factory Farming just took place in Virginia, and was organized by the Farm Sanctuary.

The conference hopes to spread awareness and eventually stop the awful practices involved in raising factory farmed animals.

There are many reasons why these types of farms need to be stopped. For example, "Animals raised on factory farms, for instance, typically live in densely-populated feedlots that produce heavy concentrations of manure and other disease-ridden waste. Much of this waste ends up contaminating nearby agriculture fields, which is a primary cause of the numerous food-borne illness outbreaks that have occurred in recent years."
