Chris Monroe operates a popular pie stand called Hunka Pie in Little Rock, Arkansas. Well, recently he decided he wanted to challenge himself (and possibly drum up a little publicity). He decided to bake 100 different pies in one night for a mega pie party the following day.
On Saturday afternoon, Chris began baking around 2 p.m. and finished the 100th pie around 3 a.m. the following morning. Among the flavors available, "Blackberry, Butterfinger, Chocolate Coconut, Velvet Lips Chocolate Cream, Egg Custard, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Chocolate Pecan, Coconut Custard, Toffee Custard, Rhubarb Custard, Strawberry Rhubarb, Banana Custard, French Apple, French Blueberry, French Cherry, Kampfire S’mores, Key Lime, Lemon Icebox, Mixed Berry, Mint Chocolate Cream, Peach Pecan Crunch, Pear Ginger, Southern Pecan, Strawberry, Strawberry Cream Cheese, Sweet Potato, Sugar Cookie Apple, Peach Custard Cream, Almond Macaroon Cherry, Lemon Dream, Pecan Cream Cheese, Caramel Apple, Strawberry Chocolate Mousse, Hunka’s Favorite Traditional Double Crust Fruit Pies, Apple with Cinnamon Glaze, Peach with Rum Glaze, Cherry with Almond Glaze, Blackberry with Vanilla Glaze, Blueberry with Lemon Glaze" and 61 other types.
Pies were available for $3.50 a slice and $18.50 for the entire thing. The event was scheduled to last from 12-6 but by 4 just six slices remained. Needless to say, the event was a big success.
