An Indian Farmer Commits Suicide Every 30 Minutes

An article in Fast Company gives this horrifying statistic. More than 17,638 Indian farmers killed themselves in 2009 alone. According to the article, "low yields, extremely reduced profits, and mounting debt make leading an agricultural life incredibly difficult" and are some of the primary reasons for the wave of suicides.
