Diego Stocco Makes Music Out of Milk, Lentils and Barley

Diego Stocco

Diego Stocco is an innovative composer and sound designer who uses ordinary items such as trees and sand as his musical instruments. In a recent collaboration with DTS Inc., Stocco was commissioned to create the music for the DTS Sound Signature.

Stocco used milk, barley, lentils and balloons to create the otherworldly sounds in the DTS Sound Signature. He golfed water-filled balloons, recorded the process of pouring lentils into milk and even recorded the faucet filling his aluminum bottle with water. The following video shows Diego Stocco's creative process for this project, which features a great deal of experimentation and play; at the end (4:26, if you're in a hurry), you can see the finished "signature."
