Classic Sour Cream Pound Cake

June 4, 2014

This sour cream pound cake from Picture Perfect Meals is a simple and straightforward dessert. The classic pound cake does not get enough room in the spotlight. It's constantly being doctored up with blueberries or chocolate chips and covered in a much too sweet glaze. There is nothing wrong with these versions but the plain pound cake also deserves an honorable mention. This recipe eliminates the frills and sticks with just vanilla and almond extract to flavor the cake.

Every good pound cake is moist. Whether that's from strictly butter, or in this case sour cream too, it's absolutely essential that you don't skimp on the fat. Pound cakes are usually baked in a loaf pan but a bundt mold makes it look so beautiful. And if you must glaze your pound cake, do so lightly.  For full recipe instructions, click here.
