The Plantable Table Grows Garnishes and Other Greenery

September 17, 2011

The Plantable table offers a new twist on gardening and farming: its wiry legs contain space to accommodate small plant pots. The design essentially turns the dinner table into a garnish-growing station, as vines and stems can easily be trained up the leg and beneath the English oak tabletop.

Designers Liam Healy and Jamie Elliott of JAILmake are behind the Plantable table. Their intent is to intertwine nature and domestic objects; to that end, they've successfully grown sweet peas, herbs, tomatoes and climbers in the table.
