Bottle Gourd Kofta With Gravy

Ingredients

FOR KOFTA:
2 cups bottle gourd, grated
3 onions, chopped
1 inch ginger, finely chopped
2 green chillies, finely chopped
1 pinch baking soda
3 teaspoons gram flour
1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
1/2 cup coriander leaves, chopped
1/2 no. potato, boiled and mashed
4 teaspoons oil, for frying the kofta
1/2 teaspoon whole cumin seed
2 onions, roughly chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1/2 teaspoon garlic, chopped
3 teaspoons cashew nut paste
1 teaspoon poppy seed paste
1 teaspoon cumin seed powder
1/4 teaspoon termeric powder
1 teaspoon chilli powder
2 teaspoons corriander powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
salt, to taste
2 teaspoons oil
1/2 cup low-fat milk

Preparation

For making kofta take a bowl and mix all the ingredients together, except oil. Make round medium sized balls from this mixture.

Put the pan above medium heat....when the oil becomes hot fry the balls into the heated oil one after another till golden brown. After frying the kofta set them aside.

Time to do the gravy....put the pan above medium heat. Pour oil into the pan to heat. When the oil be going hot then give the whole cumin seed into the oil.

Give the chopped onion into the oil, fry it till golden brown. Add the salt, chopped tomatoes, ginger paste, garlic paste, termeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, redchilli powder and fry the ingredients well.

After frying them add the cashew nuts paste, poppy seed paste, garam masala powder and the milk. Mix them in well....If the gravy seems thick then add little water into the gravy.

Now the gravy is ready. Before serving, add the bottle gourd into the gravy. Serve it hot with nun or rice.
