Easy Spring Rolls

-Prepare the filling by shredding the cabbage, grating the carrots, adding the ingredients and mixing well. -At this point, you may cook the filling or leave it raw. I just did not cook it, it was soft enough to fill. -Wrap the spring roll squares in a cigar shape around the filling -When you are done with the filling, heat up the oil, fry the Spring Rolls, this should take couple of minutes until golden color.

Set aside on paper towel to drain the extra oil. Serve hot with any dipping sauce of your choice.

For thousands of years, Spring Rolls have been a part of Chinese and Asian history and culture. During the Sung , or Song Dynasty, it was called Spring Cakes. Spring Rolls are popular during the Chinese New Year celebrations. What distinguished the Spring Roll dough from other types of dough, is the simple ingredients it has. The filling can be any type of meat or vegetarian filling. Fujianese Spring Rolls are considered the fanciest of them all for the type of exotic fillings used. Many variety of Spring Rolls are also made in the Cantonese kitchen that are known in the western kitchen as Egg Rolls. Spring Rolls are served hot out of the fryer with different dipping sauces on the side or could be served without frying depending on the dough used, also served with dipping sauce.
No matter what style of Rolls, be it Thai, Chinese style or any Asian cooking style, Spring Rolls are easy to prepare and a delicious treat to serve.
