Mom's Chicken Cacciatore

Ingredients

2 larges peppers, diced
6 ounces mushrooms, sliced
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon oregano
1 tablespoon basil
28 ounce cans crushed tomatoes

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cook chicken until it starts to color, about 30 minutes.

Add peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Cook another 30 minutes.

Sprinkle the chicken and veggies with salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, and basil, and top with crushed tomatoes. Mix, adding a little bit of water if the sauce is too thick. Cook another 30 minutes.

Serve immediately with your favorite pasta.

About

My family prefers to use chicken legs and thighs for this recipe, but if you prefer white meat, chicken breasts work just as well.
