What's not to love? These really do have it all!

My inspiration for this is from the Bake or Break Blog, but as that post points out, the recipe on there originally came from The Essential Chocolate Chip Cookbook.

I changed the recipe up a little, I thought a oreo crust would be tastier than a graham cracker crust and I also decreased the butter in the crust a little. A crust from Oreos doesn't require as much to hold it together, since Oreos have frosting in the center. I also left the chocolate chips out of the crust and instead added some extras to the cookie dough. I modified the amounts of some of the other ingredients as well.

Here's what I did:

Crust:

1 1/2 c. finely crushed Oreos
2 Tbsp. butter, melted

Cookie Dough:

1/3 c. butter
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. mini chocolate chips

Cheesecake:

8 oz. cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix together crust ingredients and press into the bottom of a 8" square or round pan.

Using a mixer beat together all cookie dough ingredients except the flour and chocolate chips. Stir in the flour and chocolate chips until just mixed in. Set aside.

Using a mixture beat cream cheese and sugar, then beat in egg and vanilla. Pour batter into crust. Drop cookie dough by small spoonfuls on top of the batter.

Bake in preheated 325 degree oven for about 30 minutes.

To get a result that is more like a cheesecake than a bar, try doubling the cookie dough and cheesecake ingredients and baking in the same size pan.
