Amish Snickerdoodles

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup Crisco solid shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons cream of tarter
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Preparation

Mix butter, shortening, eggs and sugar thoroughly. Pre-sift the flour, cream of tarter, baking soda and salt together. Add to the first mixture.

Form balls (walnut size). Roll into mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees.

About

Cookies will flatten into circles as they cook. You may top with red hots or leave unadorned. They store well in Tupperware and can be frozen.
