Mchenry's Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons caraway seeds
1 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1 1/3 cups buttermilk
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 cup heavy cream
Preparation

Place all ingredients into a kitchen mixer bowl and combine using the dough hook until a ball is formed.

On a floured surface, shape into two round loaves.

Place each into a greased glass baking dish (preferably round). Brush top of each with a bit of heavy cream, then cut a cross at each center.

Bake at 350 degrees, approximately 55 minutes.

Cool and serve with softened butter.
