Thakkali Kuzhambu

Ingredients

1 cup Tomatoes, diced
1/4 cup Onion, chopped
1 teaspoon Chili powder
1 teaspoon Kuzhambu powder
1/4 teaspoon Turmeric
1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
Salt to taste

Preparation

Heat oil in a kadai, wok or large frying pan and add mustard seeds. When it crackles add the onions, garlic and green chilly, fry for few minutes.

Add the tomatoes and fry until they are mashed.

Next, add the chilly powder, kuzhambu powder, turmeric and salt. Add enough water, cover with lid and simmer for 8 mins.

Finally, add the coconut paste, bring to boil and serve hot with dosa or idly.
