From experience, yes, I think it makes gravies and sauces more silky and blends in better because it's finer.
I've never used the rice flour before, just the mixture of either regular flour or cornstarch and water to thicken. I guess flour is flour when it comes down to it, and would work just as well!
riceflour can be used to thicken gravys but depends upon the kind of recipe. Best is cornflour, it usually gell well with most of the recipes.
