Cheese sticks are a delicious snack that come in many forms. They may be batter-covered, deep-fried pieces of cheese or a baked cheese pastry much like an elongated cheese drop biscuit. The deep-fried variety is said to have originated in 1964 in an Italian-American kitchen, when Ms Gloria Riccio published a recipe for fried Mozzarella sticks. Baked cheese sticks are more difficult to localize. They are reputed to have originated in the Southern USA, but are very likely an early European invention dating back hundreds of years.
