There is no way to determine this until the garlic head is peeled down to cloves and chopped. Garlic doesn't come in a standard size like a lot of other things. You could roughly estimate by looking at the size of the head and translating that down to cloves. 2.5 cups of garlic is a lot. I'd estimate about 5 or 6 large heads would break down to approximately 2.5 cups.
