In my house, we always had an on-going container of bacon fat or grease in the freezer. Every time we cooked bacon, we would add to it, and then once it was solidified, we would throw the container in the garbage on garbage day. The container in those days was tin, but these days you can use any container you would throw in the garbage anyway. Today there are some really good ideas about bacon grease, including making your own winter bird feeds. If you combine the grease with seeds and put it up in the feeders for the girds, it will help them get through the cold winters. Other people use bacon grease as an ingredient to flavor slow cooking veggies such as okra or beans. My dad used to spread it on toast! (gross, I know) Just another use for it.
