Sarah

My name is Sarah and I live in a small village in Savoie, in the French Alps. In a previous life I was a lawyer in Scotland and BB, an engineer in England, before we collided in the French ski resort of Courchevel in 2002. A few months later we got married, packed in our jobs, sold up everything in the UK and headed off to France with some very basic French and a suitcase full of traveller's cheques with which we purchased our dilapidated old watermill.

My Great Ambitions, when I was younger, were to write a book and own a restaurant, so I suppose writing this little blog http://atasteofsavoie.blogspot.com/ and cooking for guests in our gîte (when it's up and running) are variations on the same themes. A decade later I revisited my GAs and added to learn to ski and speak French well - and that's when I ran away to France to become a chalet girl and met BB.

My blog started off as a chronicle of the renovation of the mill into a gîte, but being a keen amateur cook, it's now as much about food.
