DIY Vanilla Extract
Ingredients
3 Tahitian vanilla beans (or other), split and scarped
1 cup vodka (or other liquor)
Preparation

Place the split vanilla beans and their seeds into your bottle or jar of choice.

Pour the vodka on top. Add a little more vodka, if needed to fully submerge the beans. Seal tightly. Shake a few times.

Keep the vanilla at room temperature out of direct sunlight (a pantry is ideal). Shake the extract once per week. Allow to infuse for at least 3 month before use. Or up to 6-9 months.

Once the vanilla extract has reached your desired flavor, strain in in a fine strainer to remove all solids. Strained extract will last forever.
