Yum! Brands, the company behind fast food franchises like KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut, has pledged $1 million to help feed needy families in Africa. The funds will benefit the United Nations World Food Programme, which is currently delivering food to families in Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Djibouti and Uganda.
"The situation throughout the Horn of Africa is desperate, and we all need to help," said David Novak, the chief executive officer of Yum! Brands. The $1 million will come from the company's annual World Hunger Relief awareness effort, which takes place each fall.
