Dutch company PlantLab is reshaping how we think of agriculture with its plant production units, each of which is essentially a psychedelic indoor farm. The indoor growing environments replicate the necessities for plants to thrive and omit everything else. That means a closed system illuminated by red and blue LEDs instead of sunlight and a sensor system that controls air velocity, humidity, nutrition, irrigation, root temperature, infrared energy and many other factors.
The PlantLab plant production units operate in a closed system, so there are no pests, diseases or need for pesticides. PlantLab also captures evaporated water, which enables it to use just 10 percent of the water that a typical greenhouse uses. See it in action below:
