Oatmeal Crumble Cherry-Apple Pie

Ingredients

3 large sweet apples, peeled, cored and cut into 8
1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon orange zest
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon cornstarch
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
8 tablespoons unsalted butter cut into pieces

In a large bowl combine apples, cherries, walnuts, sugar, orange juice/zest, ΒΌ teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg and corn starch. Toss well and set aside until you are ready to bake.

In separate bowl combine oats, brown sugar, flour, remaining cinnamon and nutmeg. Blend the butter into the mixture with your hands until it becomes crumbly. Set aside until you are ready to bake.

Prepare the pie crust and pour in fruit mixture. Top the pie with the crumb mixture and bake for 20 minutes.

Lower the temp to 350 degrees and bake for another 35-40 minutes. The liquid will be bubbly and apples tender. Let the pie rest for 15 minutes and serve warm.
