Aunt Gladys' Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

1 Stick Margerine
1 cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 Egg
2 cups Flour
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon of Cream of Tartar
shallow bowl of sugar for dipping*

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Creme butter, sugar, egg and vanilla together.

Add dry ingredients.

Refrigerate overnight.

Form cold dough into small balls the size of a walnut.

Press with two fingers into a bowl of sugar to flatten.

Place sugar side up 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 - 13 minutes.
