This new advertisement from the King of Beers is certainly ambiguous, but could it feature a gay solider coming home to his partner? The commercial certainly has people talking. If you assume the guy the solider calls at the beginning is his best friend, why would he call the best friend before his parents? The girl he hugs at the end is clearly not his girlfriend, because he would have called her before the best friend (most likely). Maybe the point of the whole thing is to be ambiguous. That way, you can see the commercial however you like (a same-sex couple reunited or an American celebration of a returning hero). Both of those versions seem equally valid to me. How do you read the commercial?
