China Dumps Poisoned Pork in Landfill

April 15, 2011

As you may remember from earlier this week, China is dealing with a new food contamination scandal involving pork that contained illegal compounds. Well, company and governmental officials opted to dump the contaminated meat products by disposing of them in a landfill. The pictures below, which comes from the Shanghaiist blog, show the Shuanghui company dumping thousands of pounds of pork away. Check them out (unless you dislike lots of raw meat):

The pictures give you a sense of how much food can be wasted during food recalls. When companies take shortcuts on food safety, they not only put their customers at risk, but waste hundreds of thousands of pounds of food. With so many people in need of something to eat on Earth, that's something we need to limit as much as possible.
