About
Hominy is dried corn kernels that have been treated with an alkali substance (such as lye) to remove the hard outer husk. It can then be cooked whole, ground into grits or into a flour for masa.

Physical Description
Dried hominy appears to look like enlarged or engorged dried corn.
It also comes canned in liquid and softened for quicker cooking.
