The perfect decoration for the holiday season, is a gingerbread house. Although my talents are in the kitchen, I never can pull off a decent gingerbread creation. It's still fun to sit with the kids and put together a sugary masterpiece; even if mine always seems to be the one that always collapses. To be honest, I think it's a conspiracy.
Making a gingerbread house starts with a sturdy gingerbread recipe. I love this one:
3/4 cup brown sugar - (firmly packed)
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup molasses
5 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
This beautiful gingerbread looks unusual in a beautiful way. It's too pretty to eat:
