Candy making is a holiday tradition on the farm. Candy isn't that plentiful throughout the year (mean old mom) but during the holiday season, we eat plenty of it and gift it to everyone we know. It's a fun way to make something special from out kitchen.
The thing about making candy, is that usually working with sugar is much too hot for the little chefs. To avoid them getting burned, give them the safer jobs of buttering pans, pressing candies into cookies, and especially the decorating with colored sugars and sprinkles. You will be amazed at how thickly a cookie can hold layers of sugar/sprinkle. It's something to behold. A Christmas miracle perhaps? :-)
This year, it's candy coal time. I found adorable DIY Christmas Coal candy that is super easy to make and will get quite a loud response during Stocking time. It's going to be awesome.
