Reinventing the Recipe: S'mores Three Different Ways

Every summer my entire extended family would get together and spend the weekend camping in Southern Oregon.  The days were spent swimming in the river and catching crawfish and the night was dedicated to making s'mores.  The kids would skewer a few marshmallows on a stick and roast them until they were almost black.  We tucked the melted marshmallows between two graham crackers and a piece of Hershey's chocolate.  I cherish these memories and the taste of s'mores.

These days a campfire isn't readily available each summer but these dessert recipes are reminiscent of the classic s'mores flavors and take me back to those glorious summer evenings.

S'mores Ice Cream

When it's too hot to build a fire, s'mores ice cream is the next best option.  Homemade vanilla and chocolate ice cream are swirled together along with chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, and pieces of graham cracker.  You can also add in hot fudge and marshmallow fluff if you are feeling indulgent.
