British Egg Week Starts with a Crack Thanks to the Boiled Ostrich Egg

October 20, 2012

British Egg Week started off with a crack thanks to Brendan Fylde's menu which included a boiled ostrich egg. The chef of The Lyttelton boils the gigantic egg for 45 minutes and serves it with a side of toast for 60 pounds. But if you prefer a different style, the special is also offered as fried or scrambled. An ostrich egg is the equivalent to 60 hen eggs.

But if you'd rather have a lighter breakfast, check out Leah Rodrigues' tips on how to make the perfect hard boiled egg.
