Lantmannen Farmers Cooperative Sets Up Dating Service for Leftover Ingredients

December 5, 2011

Twenty percent of all food is thrown out in Sweden, and the Lantmannen farmers cooperative aims to lower that statistic with its dating service for leftover ingredients. The service, which is called Restdejting, asks users to key in five ingredients they have sitting in their refrigerator; Lantmannen then posts these items on Facebook to encourage a complementary match.

The ads for the Restdejting "dating" service are great, with copy like, "Large walnut looking for strong cheese. Meal for two? Look forward to hearing from you!"
