Starbucks Launches Massive Chinese Expansion

September 10, 2011

Coffee giant Starbucks plans to open an additional 1,000 stores in China by 2015, continuing the chain's expansion into Asian markets. Starbucks also plans to open an additional 700 stores in South Korea.

Despite the sluggish global economy, sales in Asia have remained brisk. Starbucks opened their first store in China in 1999, but have expanded into 42 different cities. The chain will open stores in India next year and plans to expand into Vietnam in 2013.
