James Metcalfe is a farmer whose spray-painted sheep are causing a ruckus in the U.K. Metcalfe painted 20 of his sheep using nontoxic sheep marker to promote his turf company, Tyas Turf. As his field is right next to a highway, the sheep can graze in plain view of motorists.
Although Metcalfe's spray-painted sheep have been a hit, he doesn't think that he'll expand the idea to other advertisers. "I had to twist the shepherd's arm to paint these 20 tups," he told The Advertiser.
Is Metcalfe's marketing idea a winner, or should he have left this scheme in the stables?
