3 Booze Packages For Outdoor Drinking

June 13, 2011

Alcohol mostly comes in glass bottles, but those are not the most user-friendly for summer drinking activities like sneaking into the park or heading to the roof or backyard. Broken glass is sure to ruin even the best BBQ. Fortunately, wines and spirits have been showing up in a variety of packages that eliminate the glass and increase party potential. Check out these three alternative packaging options for your next outdoor activity.

Tetrapak
An environmentally friendly packaging option, Tetrapak is used for everything from coconut water to Yellow + Blue's organic wines. The sleek design and screw-on cap make it perfect for taking to an outdoor concert.

Astrapouch
Holding two bottle's worth of wine, the Astrapouch hails from South Africa and is essentially a bag-in-box without the box. The pouch is being used for various boozy products and has a convenient spigot for pouring alcohol directly into one's mouth.

Gasolina
Seemingly influenced by the Capri Sun pouches of our youths, the Gasolina products come in a foil package complete with straw. Self-described as a "party in a pouch," the product line consists of single serving, pre-mixed cocktails such as Mojito and Sea Breeze.

Fun! If you think about it, it's amazing how little packaging for alcoholic beverages has changed..in general it's still mostly glass bottles. Great to see these new approaches, my only concern is recycling.
