Everyone pays lip service to Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. Who could argue with spreading the word about healthier food? But when it comes down to the hard numbers, spray tans and sparkles beats out lectures about salads every time.
The Hollywood Reporter says that ABC bosses aren't confident Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution can deliver the big ratings during the critical May sweeps period and will preempt the series with Dancing With the Stars. This year's Food Revolution season premiere was 40 percent lower than last year's.
Sweeps weeks are critical for networks since the audience size for that period will dictate advertising rates for the coming months. Networks are under huge pressure to deliver the highest ratings possible. ABC is betting on Dancing With the Stars to boost the numbers in Jamie Oliver's time slot.
The network still says it's behind the healthy food message, and will air the remaining Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution episodes beginning Friday, June 3 at 9 p.m.
