Thieves have figured out that if you're sucker enough to pay $4 for a cup of coffee, you're probably easy pickings.
Starbucks has become the new place to be for any up-and-coming thief to ply his or her trade. Next time you're standing there in line waiting for your latte to the signature Starbucks easy-listening soundtrack, check out how many distracted customers aren't even paying attention to their shiny, expensive laptops, iPhones, iPads, purses, wallets and more.
So thieves, especially in New York, have moved in on the local Starbucks. It's a nice little gig when you think about it. They can get a cup of coffee, grab a few thousand dollars worth of stuff, and mosey 50 yards on down to the next Starbucks and repeat. Pretty sweet.
So what should you do? Should we all start wearing those around-the-next purses to keep our valuables in like every morning coffee run is a trip to downtown Calcutta? Or maybe just brewing coffee at home is the safer option. There's always Coffee Bean.
