English wine did make at least one appearance at the royal wedding yesterday as car fuel. Fox News reported that the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge drove Prince Charles' Aston Martin which in 2008 was converted to run on ethanol distilled from excess English wine.
European Union wine laws set an upper limit as to how much wine a winery can produce; surplus wine can be distilled into ethanol.
