A resident of British Colombia captured the grainy video above showing what appears to be a rat in between two containers of syrup at a local Starbucks. At one point in the video, the animal appears to lick the syrup dispenser. Starbucks responded immediately to the incident by introducing new safety procedures in its stores. A regional Starbucks manager as well as a Starbucks quality assurance employee met with a local health inspector who determined there was not a rodent infestation at the establishment. Several points deemed accessible to rodents have been pest-proofed and inspections for rodent activity will now occur daily instead of weekly. All open foods will now be placed in pest-proof containers, syrups will be stored in a walk-in cooler and all surfaces will be cleaned and sanitized at the start of business (that wasn't done before?). A health inspection from the store in early April found no signs of pests. Employees suspect renovation work, which left the doors open for long stretches, could be to blame. Photo by Ambernectar13
