Almost every day, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) releases news about food and other product recalls. Last week, they made it easier for consumers to search and track the specific recall details like the batch number.
The FDA released the new product recall market withdrawals and safety alerts site. The site reports every product recalled from 2009 up to present. The recall chart displays the brand name, product name, the reason for the recall, the company name, link to the original FDA release, photos, and whether or not the recall is still in effect. The site includes FDA regulated food products, as well as drugs, animal and pet products, and medical devices.
The new site is easier to navigate. The recalled products can be sorted alphabetically by columns or by date.
“Recalls, mandatory or otherwise, are serious,” said FDA Deputy Commissioner for Foods Mike Taylor. “We must do everything possible to make it easier for people to know about these recalls so they can take all appropriate steps to protect themselves and their families."
