About
The extract from the bark of the fever tree is the original source of quinine, which is used as a flavoring agent in tonic water and as an anti-malarial drug. Originally developed by the British Army in India, the bitter flavor was made more palatable by combining it with gin, which is how the popular drink "gin and tonic" was originally developed.
