Crisp fall mornings call for heartwarming breakfasts. Cinnamon apple pie oatmeal cooks itself while you sleep and will be perfectly prepared in the wee hours of the day. This meal is definitely on the heartier side so you can feel well nourished when beginning your day. You can also prepare this same recipe with pears as well. Apple pie oatmeal is so easy that you will come back to this recipe again and again.
Crock Pot Apple Pie Oatmeal
Ingredients:
5 Granny Smith or other tart apple, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
1 1/2 cups of rolled oats
1/2 cup of milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup apple cider
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
2 tbs apple butter
1 tbs cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
pinch of salt
unsalted butter
Directions:
Step 1: Coat the bottom of the slow cooker basin with butter. Add the apples, oats, milk, heavy cream, maple syrup, apple butter, raisins, spices and salt to the bowl. Stir to until ingredients are well incorporated.
Step 2: Cook the oatmeal on low for 4 to 6 hours until the oats and apples have softened.
Step 3: Serve with desired toppings.
