The Perfect Pitcher of Margaritas

July 25, 2015

Summer is jam packed with pool parties, cookouts, camping and other fun-filled activities.  My go-to cocktail for any of these events is a pitcher of margaritas.  Not only are margaritas super easy to whip up but they are a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

When preparing cocktails for a large group, consider skipping the ice in the pitcher and offer it on the side instead.  The ice will eventually melt and create a watery cocktail with a diluted the flavor.  In the same regard, I reserve blended or frozen cocktails for smaller groups.

The classic lime margarita happens to be my favorite because the flavors are clean and bright.  That being said, do not be fooled into using any store bought sweet and sour mix or bottled juice.  The best cocktails (just like the best dishes) are made with the freshest ingredients so for an amazing lime margarita, use fresh lime juice.  If you are feeling adventurous, cucumber, jalapeno, and cilantro all compliment a lime margarita.

Tequila is obviously the most important ingredient in a margarita.  True tequilas are distilled and bottled in Mexico. Choose a tequila, like Sauza Tequila, that states that it is made from 100% blue agave.  This means that no additional sugars were added.  Pure tequila has a fresh and smooth flavor.
