3 Light and Healthy Apple Treats

'Tis the season for apples and all of its varieties.  Apple pie, apple crumble, apple turnovers and more are constantly tempting us this holiday season but there are other lighter apple treats that make us feel less guilty when we indulge in them.  These three recipes are quick, easy and low in calories.  Enjoy them as a tasty breakfast, sweet snack or after dinner dessert.

Apple Chips with Salted Caramel Dipping Sauce

Ingredients:

1 large Granny Smith apple
1 tablespoon fat-free caramel topping
1/4 teaspoon coarse sea salt
1 container (6 oz) Yoplait® Original 99% Fat Free apple crisp yogurt
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts

Directions:

Step 1: Heat oven to 275°F. Line cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper.

Step 2: Using sharp knife, cut apple into very thin slices (about 1/8 inch). Place on cookie sheet.

Step 3: Bake 30 minutes; quickly turn slices. Bake 30 to 40 minutes longer or until golden brown and crispy. Cool on cookie sheet (apples will continue to crisp up).

Step 4: Meanwhile, in small microwavable bowl, microwave caramel topping uncovered on High 30 seconds. Stir in salt. Place yogurt in small bowl, and drizzle with salted caramel. Top with chopped walnuts. Serve dip with apple chips.

Apple Breakfast Trifle

Ingredients:

1 Fiber One™ 90 calorie cinnamon coffee cake bar (from 5.34-oz box)
1 container (5.3 oz) Yoplait® Greek 100 apple pie yogurt
1/2 cup diced Granny Smith apple
1 tablespoon toasted chopped walnuts
1 crispy apple chip (from 2.5 oz bag), if desired

Directions:

Step 1: Break up bar into small crumbs. Spoon half of crumbs into bottom of mini trifle dish.

Step 2: Top crumbs with half of the yogurt; top with apple. Repeat layers; sprinkle with walnuts. Garnish with apple chip.

Apple Pie Yogurt Cup

Ingredients:

1/2 teaspoon sugar
Pinch of ground cinnamon
1 egg roll skin (6 1/2-inch square, from 16-oz package)
1/2 cup chopped apple
1 container (5.3 oz) Yoplait® Greek 100 apple pie yogurt

Directions:

Step 1: Place 6-inch cooking parchment paper square on microwavable plate. Spray with cooking spray. In small bowl, stir together sugar and cinnamon; set aside.

Step 2: Cut 2 (3 1/2-inch) rounds out of egg roll skin; discard scraps. Cut each round into 1/2-inch strips.

Step 3: Tightly weave strips into lattice pattern on parchment paper.

Step 4: Spray strips with cooking spray; sprinkle evenly with cinnamon sugar.

Step 5: Microwave uncovered on Medium (50%) 30 seconds; continue microwaving an additional 15 to 30 seconds, checking every 5 seconds to prevent from burning in center. Cool 5 minutes on parchment paper (lattice will crisp as it cools). Meanwhile, stir chopped apple into yogurt cup. Place pie crust on top of cup, and serve.
