Do beer koozies, the foam things you get from weddings and family reunions to hold a cold beer and keep it cold, actually work? Lisa Bramen at the Smithsonian's Food & Think blog has undertaken some pseudo-scientific experimentation to assess the efficacy of the beer koozie just in time for Memorial Day. She believes that there is a plague of excessively warm beer striking at cookouts and barbecues, resulting in unacceptable beer waste. Bramen's experiment found that while the koozie does help to maintain the coolness of the beer, the most effective way of keeping your beer cold is to minimize the amount of time it spends in your hands.

Nice typo in the second sentence. . .
"asses" = plural of butts
"assess" = evaluate
Oh the difference on 's' can make.

They sure do work - we've done a little research ourselves! If you really like your beer cold (or any other beverage for that matter) make sure you use a lighter color of foam - black absorbs heats from the sun quite efficiently! You can see what we came up with here: Koozie Performance
